We are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Diversity and Inclusion to work for us full-time in our New York City office.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Chief Diversity Officer in leading firmwide initiatives that will continue to build an inclusive culture, support equity of opportunity for all and embrace a widely diverse workforce.
Partner with our Legal Talent and Human Resources leaders to strengthen relationships with law schools and support professional development within the firm.
Coordinate meetings and events for the firm’s staff and legal affinity groups and resource groups. The focus will be on driving results for these events and firmwide diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programming.
Report to the Chief Diversity Officer.
Collaborate with the Chief Diversity Officer in the design of DEI training and development programs for all attorneys and staff.
Foster knowledge and adoption of DEI topics and best practices and, together with the Chief Diversity Officer, will coordinate and/or facilitate internal education and development programs.
Envision the data various stakeholders are looking for, and how to present it, and conduct trend analysis on such data to gather insights/conclusions to further develop the firm’s diversity and inclusion strategic goals.
Respond to client request for proposals and recurring DEI surveys and will create a database of all surveys and past responses and a calendar with anticipated survey launch dates.
Assist the Chief Diversity Officer in the monthly monitoring of the DEI budget and will oversee DEI conference registrations and sponsorships to ensure firm representation at external events and coordination of necessary details with marketing, legal talent and other firm departments.
Ensure that the DEI sections of the firm website are regularly updated and current by providing information and working with relevant internal departments that manage such sites. The Associate Director will also supply content for the DEI newsletter and microsite.
Collaborate, when directed by the Chief Diversity Officer, with law schools and local organizations by serving as a liaison to them in their DEI-related initiatives, events (internal and external) and other projects.
Partner with the firm’s Legal Talent department to support the recruitment of summer associates from backgrounds historically underrepresented in the legal profession.
Present data for client-initiated surveys, dashboards, firm management and general surveys, including departmental reporting and monthly and quarterly business reviews.
Work directly with the Chief Diversity Officer to analyze DEI data, producing tangible insights and contributing to diversity/talent strategy, implementation and direction.
Display complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format to present findings in a clear and concise manner.
Compile analyses for reports (including in memo and PPT formats) and conduct presentations to a broad audience, including marketing and legal talent leadership, to shape strategic and operational decisions.
Lead special research projects and market research as well as maintain data on competitors and competitive trends, and will routinely research emerging trends in the legal field and leading issues that impact diversity and inclusion as related to individual, social and cultural identity.
Qualifications:
BA or BS required.
Three to five years of professional work experience in workplace DEI and culture.
Excellent project management and organizational skills required.
Spreadsheet modeling and presentation-making skills to effectively present data in a compelling way, both verbally and in written form, in order to influence decisions.
Ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Must be self-initiating, exercise good judgment, and be able to work with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated effectiveness managing diverse stakeholders including but not limited to executives, employee groups, external vendors and consultants.
Must be collaborative and creative.
Proven ability to influence and build relationships with internal and external partners and people from various backgrounds and cultures.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, use initiative and judgment to accomplish timely results, and work under tight deadlines.
Law firm experience is a plus.
